Safety & Sports Surfacing for Play and PE

The surface is the part of the playground that has to catch a fall — and the part of the sports area that has to take a season of studs and sprints. We specify, supply and lay certified recycled-rubber surfacing that does both, and hand you the paperwork to prove it.

Every Leka play and sports installation already promises EN 1176 / EN 1177 and ASTM fall-height compliance — this is the surface behind that promise. We pour or lay it to the critical fall height of the equipment above it, zone it by age and activity, and build in the drainage a tropical campus needs.

Key enhancements

What we deliver for school surfacing.

Certified critical fall height

Impact tiles are independently rated to EN 1177 / ASTM F1292, and we lay the thickness that matches the fall height of the equipment above — documented, not guessed.

One surface, play and sport

The same interlocking rubber system handles playground impact zones, PE areas, ball-sport courts, running tracks and multi-use games areas — so the whole site reads as one considered surface.

Recycled and water-permeable

Made from recycled rubber granulate and engineered to drain straight through — no puddles after a monsoon downpour, and a sustainability line the school can put in its newsletter.

Design freedom built in

Mix colours to mark out pitches, lanes, hopscotch and learning zones straight into the surface — wayfinding and play value cast into the floor, not painted on top.

Inclusive and flush

A continuous, joint-free finish with bevelled edge ramps means wheelchairs, walking frames and unsteady little feet cross it easily — keeping play and PE inclusive for SEND learners.

Fast, low-disruption install

Interlocking tiles lay quickly over a prepared base, scheduled into holiday or weekend windows, and individual tiles lift out for repair without redoing the whole area.

Why choose us

Why schools surface with Leka and Gum-tech.

Compliance documented

EN 1176 / EN 1177 and ASTM fall-height data filed for your inspection team — the surface is signed off, not just laid.

Specified to the equipment

We match tile thickness to the critical fall height of every structure on site, so the protection is real where it matters.

Climate-tested

UV-stable, water-permeable and built for full sun and monsoon — surfacing that lasts the Asian school year, not just the warranty.

Supplied and installed by Leka

One accountable partner specs the system, lays it into your term breaks, and hands over a surface ready for day one.

Design tool

Design your colour blend.

Mix up to six granule colours from our surfacing palette, dial each in by 5%, and watch the speckled surface come together in real time. Save the preview or copy a share link so your design team — or ours — can pick up exactly where you left off.

Colours shown are on-screen simulations to help you explore combinations — the cured granule colour varies a little with each batch, the binder and the light it sits in, so we always confirm against physical samples before a surface is poured. For architects & specifiers

Specifying play for a school or campus? We work the way your studio does.

Much of our work reaches the ground through the architects and landscape architects who design the schools and campuses it sits in. Here is what that partnership adds to your practice.

Schematic-phase design support

Brief us at concept or schematic stage and we send back layout options, 3D renders and a play-value rationale you can drop into a client presentation — free, with no obligation to buy.

BoQ-ready, bilingual specs

Each item arrives specified — dimensions, materials, safety zones, certifications — as drawing-ready line items in English and Thai, so your QS and your client read the same document.

Compliance evidence for your set

Play equipment certified to EN 1176, surfacing to EN 1177 / ASTM F1292, with critical-fall-height data sized to each structure — the documentation your specification and the site inspection need.

Factory-direct pricing

We manufacture and import directly, so the play budget buys specified-grade equipment at a transparent price — and tends to survive value engineering with the spec intact.

One accountable partner

Design support, supply, surfacing and installation under a single contract — so the outdoor-play scope does not fragment across your consultants and the main contractor’s trades.

Specified for the tropics

UV-stable, monsoon-drained and corrosion-rated for Southeast-Asian sites — so what leaves your drawings still performs and looks right after a few seasons on the ground.

Whether you’re designing a K-12 school, a university or campus building, an international school or an early-years or kindergarten setting, the play and outdoor-learning scope is the part we make drawing-ready.

Education FAQ

Common questions for this scope.

  • How is the fall-height rating decided?

By the equipment, not the tile. We take the free-fall height of each structure and lay the tile thickness independently certified to that critical fall height under EN 1177 / ASTM F1292 — and give you the test data for your records.

  • Can one surface do both playground and sports?

Yes — the Puzzle Mat 3D interlocking system is used for both certified playground impact zones and ball-sport courts / MUGAs. We zone and colour it per activity so the whole site stays coherent.

  • Does it drain in the monsoon?

The tiles are water-permeable recycled rubber laid over a free-draining base, so surface water passes straight through — no puddles, and the area is usable again quickly after rain.

  • Is it inclusive for wheelchair users and SEND learners?

Yes — it lays flush and continuous with bevelled edge ramps at every transition, so wheelchairs and walking frames roll across it and the play and PE areas stay inclusive.

  • How disruptive is installation?

Interlocking tiles lay fast over a prepared base, so we schedule the work into holiday or weekend windows. Individual tiles also lift out for repair without redoing the whole surface.

  • Can you support our schematic or design-development phase?

Yes. Brief us at concept or schematic stage and we return layout options, 3D renders and a play-value rationale you can put straight into a client presentation, at no cost. We stay available through DD and tender so the specification stays coordinated.

  • Do you provide BoQ-ready specifications and CAD/3D for our drawings?

Every item is specified with dimensions, materials, safety zones and certifications — in English and Thai — as drawing-ready line items, with 2D footprints and 3D models or renders on request so your team can place equipment accurately.

  • Is the equipment certified to the standards we have to specify?

Play equipment is certified to EN 1176 and surfacing to EN 1177 / ASTM F1292, with critical-fall-height data matched to each structure. We hand over the documentation your specification and the project’s safety inspection require.
